So you've decided to go on a motorhoming adventure around the Highlands, here at Highland Campervans we love motorhoming and the adventures that go with it. Check out our top 10 adventures to do on your motorhome holiday.
1. Mischief trip to the dolphins - Dolphin Spirit
Seeing Dolphins is one of the top requests we get when our customers are planning a Motorhome holiday. Our friends at Dolphin Spirit have an adrenalin fuelled trip on their “Dolphin Mischief boat” that will take you with great excitement through the waters of the Inner Moray Firth with the chance to see dolphins in their natural habitat.
2. Zip Wire Durness - Golden Eagle Zip Wire
Why wouldn’t you want to fly through the air at speed? Take a jump off the top of a cliff and zip alongside the Atlantic Ocean and one of the North Highlands most beautiful beaches at 40mph! Durness is one of the most popular spots to visit on a trip with Highland Campervans, a highlight of the North Coast 500.
3. Gorge Walking - In Your Element
Aviemore and the Cairngorm National Park is a fabulous stop off on a Motorhome trip particularly with its stunning range of campsites to overnight. So why not delve in to nature, jump into the fresh waters of the River Feshie and have a fun adventure exploring the stunning gorges of the Spey Valley, accessible to non-swimmers too, this is a great way to experience some thrills for the whole family. You can spend the night in the heart of nature at Camping in the Forest or nearer to the centre of Aviemore at Oakwood Campsite.
4. Landmark Forest Adventure Park – Family Time, Carrbridge
Families need to have fun and adventures too!! One of our top recommendations for a great family day out with plenty to do is Landmark Forest adventure. The entire family can take part in all manner of activities. Landmark Forest Adventure Park in Carrbridge, open all year round and is a fantastic place to stop off with on your family motorhome adventure.
5. White water rafting - Ace Adventures
Want to head off the beaten track and explore other routes such as the Malt Whisky Trail and the Moray Speyside area? In-between distillery tours why not head to Auchnagairn and experience the ultimate adrenaline rush of rafting through fast flowing Highland rapids, sightseeing with a twist!

The popular town of Ullapool on the NC500 with its stunning scenery and views. You can capture the ever amazing range of nature and wildlife of the Highlands from a new perspective by taking a sea kayaking trip, an active but serene way to travel. Alternatively take a trip off the beaten track to the stunningly beautiful village of Plockton on the west Coast where it’s picturesque sheltered bays are ideal for learning and not to mention seal spotting!
7. Paint balling - Wildwoodz
The Black Isle, not far from our base but a fantastic place to explore with a motorhome you will find Wildwoodz! Don’t let the rolling green scenery fool you, activities such as paintball is a great opportunity to let out stress and steam whilst in a beautiful setting!
8. Axe Throwing - Ace Target Sports
The Isle of Skye is a must on everyone’s trip around the Highlands with some scenic campsites available, the Island is a backdrop to many films and TV shows. Why not feel like you’re in an episode of Game of Thrones or let your inner Viking out and take part in Axe Throwing experience with our friends at ACE Target sports. This is one of the many unique activities that you can take part in with them!
9. Clay pigeon shooting - Craggan Outdoors
Many of our customers when visiting the Highlands by motorhome want to get a true flavour of Highland Culture, shooting has long been a part of that for hundreds of years. So why not take the opportunity to try out Clay Pigeon shooting at Craggan Outdoors just outside Grantown-on-Spey in the Cairngorm National Park.
10. Abseiling - Skye Highland Adventures
On your Highland Campervans motorhome adventure around the Highlands and Skye the scenery is stunning, however why not see some of Skye’s spectacular scenery from above, below or within the scene itself? The guys from Skye Highland Adventures have some fantastic options to abseil down and embrace (almost literally) some of the Highlands natural wonders among other experiences you can have with them. It was, almost unexpectedly, one of the best family holidays we've had since having children! The combination of access to the outdoors, the wonderful scenery, lovely van and great campsites made every day different and exciting for both adults and kids. We also managed to have a digital detox, which did us all good!
